Autumn colours

It was a chilly start to the day with a light frost on the grass, which was a bit of a shock to my legs as I'm #stillinshorts!

We are still awaiting the first arrivals of the autumn migrants although one or two Redwings, Fieldfares and Brambling have been recorded down the East coast. Maybe today could see many more arriving?

It was a very quiet day with not much of interest along my morning walk route which today was down to the beach, in to KP then along the south side of The Mere to Wassand then back along Southorpe Road.

A ringed Black-headed Gull was roosting on one of the jetties at KP but I had no chance of reading it:
Along in Bull Hole (which is the north east corner of The Mere) there were 3 Grey Herons and a single Little Egret sitting in a colourful horse chestnut tree:

Another Grey Heron came in to land in the tree but it wasn't a very elegant effort :)
